BAGHDAD - Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said on Monday that there is no approved oil policy in Iraq, pointing out that the ministry is currently developing a plan to raise oil production to more than 7 million and 500 thousand barrels per day during the years 2023-2024.
"In fact, there is no approved oil policy in Iraq," said al-Allaibi, according to the official Al-Sabah newspaper. "In the past, the ministry was following the five-year and twenty-year plans issued by the governments at that time. After 2003, "This trend is a serious mistake in the oil industry, for example, during licensing rounds, the ministry said that the production will reach 12 million barrels per day, but did not get this on the ground and remained on paper.
He added that "this imbalance was not because of the ministry alone, but bear the Iraqi parliament part of it, because it did not approve the oil and gas law during the past sessions, which in turn draws and determines the oil policy and the future of the sector throughout the country."
He added that "we are working in the ministry to develop the features of oil policy through specific objectives, we seek to reach them, as we follow the plan to raise oil production to more than 7 million and 500 thousand barrels per day during the years 2023-2024, so we allocate 6 million barrels for export, And two and a half million for domestic consumption. " Finished
