German Foreign Minister Haiku Mas on Monday called on the European Union to respond to US sanctions against Russia, China, Turkey and other important economic partners.
Moscow - Sputnik . "Washington is forcing us to take European measures in terms of sanctions policy," he said. "This applies to Europe and Germany. If the United States suddenly and without coordination and indefinitely sanctions Russia, China and Turkey, sanctions may be imposed in the future against other important trading partners. These actions must be answered. "

In a related context, the US sanctions that were announced earlier, because of the alleged use of chemical weapons in the British city of Salisbury, came into effect on Monday, Washington time.
"The State Department recognizes that the Russian Federation used chemical weapons in violation of international law against its citizens," said the document, which appeared in the Federal Register - the official organ of the US government .
