Canadian Foreign Minister Christia Freeland confirmed that her country has not reached any agreement with Washington during recent talks on amending the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
"We have no agreement, but the talks will resume this morning," Freeland told a news conference.
She noted that there was "good atmosphere and constructive work" in the negotiations, while the US side did not give the negotiator any statement.
The NAFTA Convention, one of the largest economic treaties in the Western Hemisphere, was concluded between the United States, Mexico and Canada in 1992 and has been in force since 1994.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to pull out of the deal on the grounds that it is not useful to the United States because it limits production and increases job losses, while offering many benefits to both Mexico and Canada at the expense of Washington's interests.http://www.almaalomah.com/2018/08/31/339819/
