Turkish inflation jumps to 17.9% in August, the highest since the end of 2003
Inflation in Turkey jumped on an annualized basis in August to 17.9%, the highest since the end of 2003. The monthly inflation rate also rose to 2.3 %.
The Turkish producer price index rose 6.6% month-on-month in August and 32.13% year-on-year .
The central bank said recent developments in the inflation outlook had shown "significant risks" to price stability, adding that it would adjust its monetary policy at its next meeting on September 13 in line with the latest forecast .
"The central bank will take the necessary measures to support price stability, " the central bank said in a statement released following the release of inflation data .
