Baghdad responds to Israel: Iraq's sovereignty is a red line
A source in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said on Monday that the ministry followed the remarks of Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman on the possibility of hitting Iraq, stressing that the sovereignty of the country is a red line.
"We are waiting for the official position of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Haider al-Abadi, regarding the Israeli position to respond to Lieberman openly and with a clear position," the source said.
"Iraq is not a land that everyone wants to interfere with, but a country with sovereignty and a strong army, and what Lieberman talked about will not happen, our sovereignty is a red line," he said.
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said earlier that Israel was prepared to deal with any Iranian threat anywhere and hinted at attacking military parts, possibly Iranian in Iraq.
