Mexican President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend his inauguration, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Abrard said on Monday.

Mexican President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend his inauguration, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Abrard said on Monday.
Mexico - Sputnik . "Lopez Obrador invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to accompany him on December 1 at the swearing-in ceremony and takes office," Aberard told reporters .
According to him, the invitation will also be sent to Pope Francis .

Obrador met on Monday with Russian Ambassador to Mexico Victor Coronelli.
The Russian embassy has yet to comment on the meeting between Ambassador Coronelli and Obrador.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier sent a cable of congratulations to Anders Manuel Lopez Obrador by winning the Mexican presidential election. Putin noted that Russia valued the traditional friendship with Mexico and called for its development, and expressed the hope that the activities of Lopez Obrador will pay attention to cooperation between the two countries.
