The Palestinian diplomatic mission in Washington is closing
The Palestinian diplomatic mission in Washington announced Thursday that it was suspending its work, hoping that this "sad moment" would be a brief closure.
The representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) delegation in the United States, Hossam Zamelat, said in a videotape broadcast on Facebook andaddressed him to "the great American people", "today is the date they set for us" to end the work of the mission in Washington.
Washington on Monday announced the closure of the mission, accusing Palestinian leaders of refusing to talk to the administration of US President Donald Trump, and of not holding peace negotiations with Israel .
"The Trump administration has given us only two options: to lose our relationship with it, or to lose our rights as a nation," he was quoted as saying by AFP. "Our president, our leaders and the Palestinian people have chosen our rights." The White House
asserts that it is a peace plan that US President Donald Trump hopes will reach a "final agreement" between Israelis and Palestinians. "Wait for the peace plan to be unveiled, and when it is published, read it in full and judge it," said Jason Greenblatt, one of the US negotiators, on Wednesday. But US State Department spokeswoman Heather Naort said on Thursday the administration was "not ready to reveal" the plan. "There is a need for a different approach" because "nothing has worked so far," she said, stressing at the same time that she was "optimistic"
