Jafar Hamdani, president of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, said Iraq would not accompany US economic sanctions on Iran, the media reported today in the capital.
Hamdani heads a delegation that started on Tuesday to visit a neighboring country to agree on modalities for implementing bilateral trade.
With this aim, the president of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce confirmed that "relations between Iran and Iraq continue to develop, despite the boycott imposed by the United States government against Tehran."
"We are actively trying to facilitate Iran's exports to Iraq, where a joint committee has been set up to improve the level of exchange," he stressed.
According to local media, according to local media, in 2017, the volume of trade between Iran and Iraq amounted to five billion and 250 million dollars, and in the first seven months of this year, trade increased to seven billion dollars.
He pointed out that this latter figure indicates the will of both sides to increase cooperation.
Hamdani continued that the Islamic Republic of Iran can use Iraqi soil Kabbab to export its products to other countries
