The Iraqi Council of Representatives resumed on Tuesday, the session of choosing the President of the Republic, headed by Mohammed Halbusi, and the presence of 192 deputies.
According to the Information Service of the House of Representatives in a statement read by (Basneoz), «the Speaker of Parliament Mohammed Halbusi, opened the proceedings of the meeting (4) for the fourth parliamentary session, the first legislative year, the first legislative term».
She added that «the number of attendance 192 deputies».
It was scheduled to hold the House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon, at its fourth legislative session, in order to decide the selection of one of the candidates for the presidency of the next, but the lack of quorum prevented this.
The House of Representatives, the candidates for the position, who met the terms and conditions of candidacy, and the number of 24 people, to attend the meeting.
Earlier, the Information Service of the Council said that "the names of deputies who did not attend the meeting will be published at 4.30 pm."
Explaining that «the presidency of the Council confirmed the holding of the meeting at 4.30 and proceed with the agenda including the election of the President of the Republic».
The Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Halbousi, said in a speech from within the House of Representatives that «understandings continue between the political blocs and less than an hour we will hold a meeting to complete the task and the election of the President of the Republic».
"It will be the procedure for the election of a president at 4:30 pm today," he said.
