These cafés and restaurants attract young people of different ages, especially university students and staff, who find it an outlet for daily stress, they say.
The student at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad, Rua al-Jumaili, pointed out that reading and interest in the book has become a "fashion" recently, because of campaigns sponsored by cultural and media institutions, as well as book festivals that spread along the map of the country.
Al-Jumaili believes that this phenomenon is a light in the darkness of the current situation in the country, and can produce generations more conscious and far from engaging in the maze of sectarian and national conflicts.
Government official Ali Rassin says he has decided to abandon politics for years because of his frustration.
"There is no voice calling for hatred or sectarianism here," he said.
A number of Iraqi cities have witnessed in recent years the establishment of public festivals for reading attended by thousands of different age groups in conjunction with the recovery of the book market, and increase cultural activities in the streets dedicated to libraries, Kalmtene in Baghdad and Najafi in Mosul and Farahidi in Basra.
