Denmark is preparing to launch a new island for 35,000 citizens in an effort to bridge the housing deficit in the city.
Danish Prime Minister Lars Lok Rasmussen announced that the island would be named Linthaulmen and would look to Sweden as a condo and tourist spot at the same time.
The launch of the island is expected to begin by 2035 and construction will end in 2070 and costs will reach 20 billion kronor (nearly $ 3 billion).
Demographic research shows that 170,000 people will move to the Danish capital by 2045 in pursuit of high-paying jobs, so the new island will help absorb the immigrant population from other cities.
In addition, the island will also help protect the Danish capital from storms and sea level rise, officials said
