The talks between the two countries ended in Rabat after a 16-year break.
"The Iraqi delegation headed by Walid al-Moussawi, the oldest agent of the Ministry of Commerce, has discussed with the brotherly Moroccan side the activation of bilateral relations in the political, economic, scientific, financial and energy fields in the light of the paper," the official spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, Mohammad Hanoun, said in a statement. The work prepared by the Iraqi ministries and bodies after a series of joint meetings were aimed at preparing an Iraqi paper takes into consideration all common issues and activate cooperation in various fields.

He pointed out that "the signing of the joint record between Iraq and Morocco marks a new state of constructive cooperation between the two parties and paves the way for addressing all outstanding issues in the context of the common desire to increase cooperation and continue the common dialogue to serve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples in good relations covering all fields."
He pointed out that "the Ministry of Commerce has prepared a wide program to activate the joint relations with all countries in the world in the light of joint agreements and the activation of bilateral committees and the preparation of memorandums of understanding to increase the volume of trade and develop relations in various fields."
The last meeting of the Iraqi-Moroccan committee was held in Rabat in 2002.
