The Iraqi Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday stating five reasons for the decline in the Iraqi passport classification compared to the rest of the world.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub said in a statement today that "the classification of the passport sequence in the world depends on international quality standards related to security and economic stability, which is very similar to the criterion of currency strength, and Iraq continues to address its security and economic conditions towards stability and development, And when it settles and acquires the ideal objective conditions that qualify his passport to improve his position in a remarkable manner. "

He added that "the countries of the world in this framework govern the principle of reciprocity and Iraq does not grant visas easily because of its security situation and strongly emphasizes this trend to protect its security because it went through difficult conditions in the last stage. The visa to enter Iraq is one of the most difficult features of the entry of countries in the region.

"Many countries in the world are still concerned about the issue of immigration and asylum applications and therefore are reluctant to accept the entry of residents of countries exposed to the circumstances of the war and Iraq has passed in the past period under such circumstances," Mahjoub said.

He pointed out that "there is no exclusive relationship to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs location of the Iraqi passport, because this classification depends on criteria related to the conditions of the state and its institutions and security and economy, but the negotiating dimension in this matter is a complementary effort to a series of efforts related to other executive and political institutions However, the ministry moved in this direction And was able to sign a number of memorandums of understanding on diplomatic passports and service passports in addition to opening dialogues in the framework of facilitating visas for Iraqi tourists to a number of countries of the world according to the controls.

"During the second half of 2019, Iraqis will be able to enter a new number of countries, where the foreign ministry is completing its dialogues with a number of countries in the world in this regard and has reached good results," the ministry spokesman said.

The newly established Hinley Index has established a list of passport arrangements based on the freedom of citizens traveling and traveling around the world, which means they are not required to obtain or obtain a visa at the place of arrival.

The index includes the world's most recent 2018 passports, placing Iraq at 106th place in the world after Somalia, which ranked 105th.

Japan is at the top of the list, permitting its entry into 190 countries, while both Iraq and Afghanistan are on the list, providing travel visas for only 30 countries.
