Trump describes the Fed as "madness" because of monetary tightening

 11 October 2018 11:52 p
Direct US President Donald Trump said that the Fed has become "insane" as a result of monetary tightening implemented by the US central bank.
Trump said in remarks on his return from a trip to the city of Erie on Wednesday, that the Fed "is doing things wrong .. It is very hard .. I think the Fed became crazy."
Last month, the Federal Reserve decided to raise interest rates for the third time this year with expectations of an additional increase this year and three more in 2019.
US interest rates currently range from 2% to 2.25%.
This week, the US Federal Reserve criticized the US Federal Reserve, saying it should not decide on continuing to raise interest rates. I think it should not do so quickly.
Trump's criticism this week is not the first, since he had previously criticized the policies of the US Central Bank, and said he was not happy about raising interest rates.
He also said earlier that he did not agree with Jerome Powell in reference to his policy of tightening the rate hike.
Charles Evans, head of the Fed in Chicago, said yesterday that the US president's question on why interest rates should rise quickly was "acceptable."
Yet Evans is a supporter of monetary tightening "because the US economy is doing very well."

Lagarde defends the Fed after the Trump attack

 11 October 2018 02:00 PM
Directly : President of the International Fund refused to describe the Fed 's actions as "madness", and in the wake of US President likened Donald Trump Bank procedures so.
Christine Lagarde told CNBC that she did not describe the Federal Reserve chairman, Jerome Powell, as crazy, noting that he was acting in a specific way and the members of the board were too serious.
Lagarde added that the Fed and its recent members are interested in making their decisions based on real information and decide to interact correctly.
The US president said yesterday that the Fed "is doing the wrong things ... that it is pursuing a very hard line. I think the Fed has become crazy."
The Fed decided at its last meeting to raise the interest rate for the third time this year with expectations of an additional increase this year and three other operations in 2019.
Over the past few months, US President Donald Trump has attacked the Fed's policies, criticizing his terse decision to tighten cash.
Lagarde pointed out that everywhere in the world, the principle of the independence of the central bank and its governor is good, pointing out that the Fund has always defended this principle in all countries.
