Google's affiliate Google has joined companies that have announced they will not attend an investment conference in Saudi Arabia this month.
Pressure has been on Riyadh since the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was last seen entering his consulate in Istanbul on October 2.
"Diane Green, CEO of Google Cloud, will not attend the Future Investment Initiative, which is due to start in Riyadh on October 23," Google said in a statement.
According to Reuters, "Green did not provide a reason for this.
Other business leaders who announced their lack of participation in the conference, among them Dara Khososhahi, Ober's chief executive, said they were worried about Khashoggi's disappearance.
Google announced this year it would work with a Saudi agency to open five innovation centers in the kingdom to train ambitious technology talent.

    "Google" Intersect Riyadh Investment Conference

Diana Green of the general management of Google, declined to participate in the Saudi Investors Conference.
"We can confirm that Diana Green will not attend the Future Investment Initiative forum," Google spokesman Hill quoted a spokesman for Google as saying.
The second forum will be held in the Saudi capital between October 23 and 25 under the chairmanship of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who heads the Economic Council and the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom.

On the backdrop of the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, businessmen, media, investment companies and others have announced their refusal to participate in the conference, despite their previous agreement.
Jimmy Demon, general manager of JPMorgan Chase, one of the world's largest investment banks, will not attend the conference, as will Dara Husruchha, general manager of Ober.
US President Donald Trump said his country had yet to decide on the US delegation to the conference and the decision was not yet made on the participation of US Treasury Secretary Stephen Menuchin.

CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg and the Financial Times also declined to participate in the event.
