    Shafaq News / Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met Tuesday with Lebanese President Michel Aoun in Beirut.

    The two sides reviewed the developments in the Arab region and a number of regional and international issues.

    Jaafari stressed "the depth of the Iraqi-Lebanese relations, and his aspiration for further cooperation; to achieve common interests, and to face common dangers," calling for "concerted political efforts and intensification of dialogues; to overcome the crises experienced by the region."

    For his part, Aoun expressed his country's desire to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and develop them in all fields. He expressed his satisfaction with the development witnessed in the Arab arena, namely the opening of the border crossing between Syria and Jordan, hoping that the border crossing between Iraq and Syria will be reopened.
