Forty US MPs sign sanctions against Saudi Arabia Friday, October 19, NB-250362-636755277527353539

More than 40 members of the US House of Representatives, Donald Trump , have called for tougher sanctions against Saudi Arabia over the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi .

On the official website of the US House of Representatives, Lloyd Doggett published a letter to Tramp signed by more than 40 lawmakers saying that there is increasing evidence "indicating that the Saudi government has orchestrated the assassination of Jamal Khashoggi."

US lawmakers said they were joining their fellow senators urging Trump to take a decision to impose sanctions on those responsible for Khashoggi's murder under the Magnetsky Act, which provides for accountability for those involved in assassinations or torture of people outside the courts.

The deputies called on the US president to inform Congress of the appropriate decision within 120 days, but expressed the hope that this would happen as soon as possible.

"If your direct investigations and conclusions agree with the media reports about this disconcerting process, we urge you to impose strict and comprehensive sanctions. We also urge you to suspend US involvement in Yemen, which resulted in the deaths of countless women and children Isolation ".

In a commentary on this letter, Dougette described the current position of the American president as shameful, especially "in light of the growing evidence that Saudi Arabia has committed this massacre," noting that "Congress must act."

He said the first step after imposing sanctions on Saudi Arabia and ending support for its operations in Yemen should be to expel the Saudi ambassador from Washingtonand suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia, the largest and most important ally of the United States in the Middle East, has been widely criticized by activists and some American politicians for the disappearance of Khashoggi, who has criticized the kingdom's policies in many areas after entering his consulate in Istanbul, Turkey on October 2, The administration of the White House master has not yet announced its position or assumption of what happened to the Saudi media, enough to express its concern and Riyadh's call for an impartial investigation into the case.

The Turkish and Saudi authorities have given conflicting accounts of Khashoggi's whereabouts since he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Ankara says he has not left the building, while Riyadh insists he has left shortly after finishing work on his marital status.

Turkey, which is investigating the case, has yet to announce its official claim on Khashoggi's fate, but several sources, including Umniah, have said initial estimates indicate the Saudi journalist was killed inside his country's consulate.

Khashoggi was the editor-in-chief of the Saudi daily Al-Watan. He also served as adviser to Prince Turki al-Faisal, the former Saudi ambassador to Washington, but left the country after Prince Mohammed bin Salman was crown prince.

The Saudi journalist has been in the United States for more than a year and since then has written articles in the Washington Post criticizing Saudi policies towards Qatar and Canada, the war in Yemen and dealing with the media and activists.

Thanks Rocky, it seems that those in Congress are so eager to "do something/anything" before all the facts are ratified as accurate.  I believe Trump knows what happened, how it happened and who "happened it"- he plays his cards close to the vest - so at his timing, he will let us know what he is going to do.  And, let us not forget Russia - Putin has said "what is the big deal about this death" - my paraphrasing - and Putin is ready to step in and take over if we pull out of Saudi Arabia - that would be a nightmare and "not waiting to happen" but "happening as in 'now'".  Maybe we should encourage Saudi Arabia to just go back to Arabia and get rid of the House of Saud - that is something to consider since the Royals are "overwhelming" in their lust for ......
