A member of the Iraqi province of Dhi Qar, Ajyal al-Musawi, confirmed Monday the displacement of dozens of families from the province of Dhi Qar due to drought.

"These families have resorted to the north of the province or to the nearby provinces, having lost the opportunity to live in the agricultural areas where they lived because of the drought," RT quoted al-Moussawi as saying.

"The federal government in Baghdad is required to put a solution to this disaster, which may increase in the coming periods in light of the declining water level in the Iraqi rivers."
