[rtl]Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the Saudi authorities of responsibility for the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in his consulate in Istanbul. "No one should dare to do such work on the ground of a NATO member, " he said.[/rtl]
[rtl]"We know that the order to kill Khashoggi was issued by the highest levels of the Saudi government," Erdogan wrote in an article in the Washington Post. "But he does not think King Salman is involved in the case .[/rtl]
[rtl]Khashoggi was killed at his consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Turkish investigators believe the journalist, who was a resident of the United States, was strangled when he went to the consulate to extract documents to facilitate his marriage to his Turkish fiancé .[/rtl]
[rtl]Initially, Riyadh said Khashoggi had left the consulate building alive, but later admitted his death, saying the crime of his murder had been prepared in advance .[/rtl]
[rtl]The Saudi authorities arrested 18 suspects and said they would be tried in the kingdom and confirmed that they were "determined to reveal all the facts" in his case .[/rtl]
[rtl]His body has not been found so far, but Yassin Aktay, Erdogan's adviser, said he believed Khashoggi's body "was tainted in acid after cutting ."[/rtl]
[rtl]"We know that the perpetrators are among 18 suspects detained in Saudi Arabia, " theTurkish president said in his Washington Post article, written by Khashoggi .[/rtl]
[rtl]"We also know that these people came to carry out the orders to kill Khashoggi and then leave the country, and finally we know that the order to kill Khashoggi was issued by the highest levels in the Saudi government," he said, calling for the disclosure of those who ordered the killing of the journalist .[/rtl]
[rtl]"No one should dare to do such work on the ground of a NATO member," he said. "If someone chooses to ignore this warning, he will face serious consequences ."[/rtl]
[rtl]He criticized the lack of action against the Saudi consul who left the country, and accused the Saudi prosecutor of not cooperating with investigators .[/rtl]
