US newspaper: Washington wants Iran to stop the ballistic missile program and support for terrorism

The White House hopes to stifle sanctions - due to come into effect on Monday - targeting more than 700 Iranian individuals and entities - Iran's economy and forcing the regime to enter a new round of negotiations.

"Our ultimate goal is to force Iran to abandon its well-documented illegal activities and act as a normal state,"
Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo told reporters on Friday at a telephone conference reviewing sanctions on Nov. 4 . US sanctions hit foreign countries and companies dealing with targeted Iranian entities, including the National Oil Company, its banks and the shipping industry.
Brian Hawk, US special representative for Iran, said the [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/616/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%88%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AA %D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AA%D8%AD%D8%AF%D8%A9]United States[/url] had asked Saudi Arabia to increase its oil production "as Iranian oil is being taken out of the market."
He said Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Stephen Manoucan, said that the gap proposed EU will not succeed, warning that Trump administration will hunt down any entity trying to avoid US sanctions.

pointed outThat eight countries, refused to disclose, cooperate with the administration in its quest for access to oil imports "zero" from Iran, and those countries will receive temporary exemptions when the sanctions enter into force, on Sunday evening.
The two ministers said the full list of exemptions and the full list of targeted Iranian entities would be released Monday, while Pompeopointed out that there would be some exemptions for food, medicine and other humanitarian goods.
Republican Senator Marco Rubio of Florida said the sanctions were too lenient, criticizing the administration for not preventing Iran from accessing the interbank financial system.
The White House demanded no exemptions be allowed, including concessions reportedly received by several states.
Rubio added: "Sanctions exemptions give the major buyers of Iranian oil and China and give Iran financial possibility, and must be disposed of as soon as possible."
Minuchin and Pompio declined to comment, saying there would be no room for maneuver for side deals with Iran.
"We are very confident that our sanctions will be very effective, and the Iranian economy now feels the effects of this ... because the world and Iran knew it was coming," Pompeo said.
On Friday, the US administration announced that sanctions on Iran's crude oil exports and financial transactions would be re-imposed on Monday in a second round of economic sanctions following sanctions imposed in August.
