A high-level delegation from the federal government arrived in Erbil on Wednesday to discuss the unification of customs in international land and air ports in the Kurdistan Region.
According to a statement issued by the Customs Authority, a high-level delegation led by Director General Munther Abdul Amir Asad, and representatives of the Prime Minister and the relevant ministries arrived in Erbil to discuss the unification of work procedures at the border crossings in the region with border crossings in the country.
"The visit is aimed at finding appropriate solutions to the problems and obstacles at the border crossings in the region, as well as standardizing work at all border crossings of the Republic of Iraq, including the ports of the region," the statement said.
The statement stressed that "the atmosphere is positive and fruitful and the meetings are continuing to come out with recommendations aimed at enforcing federal laws, decisions and instructions, standardization of tariffs and customs procedures, simplification of procedures and elimination of red tape in order to facilitate trade exchange and support the private sector."
It is noteworthy that there are five border ports in the region are Ibrahim Khalil, Haj Amran, Bashmakh, Erbil International Airport and Sulaymaniyah International Airport.
