Iran is not ready to hold direct talks with the Afghan government and will instead negotiate with the United States, Interfax news agency quoted Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanakzai, head of the Afghan Taliban delegation, as saying on Friday.
On Friday, a Taliban delegation attended a diplomatic conference in Russia for the first time, but the Afghan government did not send an official representative, nor did any party announce progress.
