The Sunni blocs in Iraq continue to consult with the aim of reaching a single candidate for the post of defense minister before the next parliament session.
"The blocs representing the Sunni component have so far not agreed on one candidate for the post of Iraqi defense minister," MP Ali al-Khalidi told parliament. "The negotiations are continuing in this regard, in the hope that a candidate will be nominated."
Khalidi pointed out that there are eight Sunni figures nominated for the post of defense minister, and the resolution of the competition between these candidates is subject to the agreement of Sunni leaders among them.
The spokesman for the National Axis Alliance (Sunni) MP Laith al-Dulaimi, confirmed that the Sunni component will provide candidates for the Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi.
Dulaimi said that the Ministry of Defense is not from the share of the national axis and not from the year of construction, but from the share of the National Coalition led by Iyad Allawi for the Alliance of reform, indicating that the accusations should not be attributed to the year of construction or the coalition in general.
But the MP for the National Axis Alliance Mahasen Hamdoun, stressed that "the bag of the share of the Sunni component, and Allawi of the Shiite component," indicating that the axis will nominate names of the defense representing the Sunni component.
Hamadoun said in a statement that the head of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, who nominated the names of candidates for the Ministry of Defense, who are suspected, indicating that the national axis is not involved in these nominations and did not submit the names of candidates for the bag, although the defense is the share of the Sunni component and Allawi of the Shiite component And is not calculated for the year.
