Japan's shipments of Iranian oil may be heavy in December
Japan's loading of Iranian oil will likely be heavy from January to March, although some new shipments may be near the end of December, Takashi Tsukuka, chairman of Japan Petroleum Association, said on Tuesday. He explained that the oil refining sector in Japan will continue to seek to extend the exemption granted to him from the US sanctions on imports of Iranian oil after the end of the period of initial exemption of 180 days. Tsukuka, who also serves as chairman of Japan's Edemitsu Kosan, said the company hoped to buy the rest of the contracted quantities of Iranian oil during the exemption period, although the quantities it buys are limited.
