TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran and Iraq are preparing to link the provinces of Najaf and Ilham by rail, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on Saturday.
" The minister of roads and the construction of Iranian cities promised to offer part of the Kermanshah-Ilam-Mehran railway in the tender soon to complete the project," Iran's governor Qassim Soleimani Dashtaki said in remarks followed by Kalima's website .
He said the Iranian minister confirmed the "completion of the project to expose the road between Ilam and Najaf Ashraf to four lines."
"During the visit of the minister to Ilam, it was decided to complete the project by a private contractor and in cooperation with the Iranian and Iraqi governments," he said.
