Trump threatens China with high tariffs
US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose heavy tariffs on Chinese products if a real deal is not reached with Beijing.
"Either we have a real deal with China, or there will not be a deal at all," Trump said in a tweet on his Twitter page. "In that case, we will impose a heavy duty on Chinese products shipped to United State".
The US president said he believed a deal with China was inevitable. "I think we will have a deal, both now and in the future," he said.
On the sidelines of the G20 summit this month, Chinese President Jiang Zemin and US President Donald Trump reached a truce in the trade war between the two countries, in which Beijing buys more US products in return for Washington's freeze on taxes on Chinese imports.
