The Minister of Planning in the Kurdistan Regional Government Ali al-Sindi on Tuesday the agreement of Erbil and Baghdad on the conduct of the general census, revealing the allocation of the federal government 50 billion Iraqi dinars from the financial budget for the year 2019 to implement the project.

"The Iraqi government is preparing for the census of the general population, and allocated 50 billion Iraqi dinars in the budget next year to implement the project," Sindi said in a press conference held today in Baghdad, saying that the project takes time and is not easy and will be started in the year Next ".

He explained that the Kurdistan Region has conducted preparations and preparations for the project since 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, but unfortunately the work was stopped in 2012 by a political decision by Baghdad.

The minister pointed out that the region has experience in this field and international certificate, and we are advancing on Iraq in this area and are taking a step forward in the project as we conducted the process of enumeration and numbering of buildings and trained thousands of cadres on the census in addition to conducting geographical surveys with cluster cluster survey.

Al-Sindi attributed the failure of the general census to a political decision that prevents this, not financial or technical issues, saying some political parties in Iraq are afraid of the census and imagine that it may reduce its size. "

"Statistics have great economic and social benefits, and any ministry can not conduct full and precise planning without accurate statistics," he said.
