    The Education Committee of the Iraqi parliament stressed the need to increase the budget of the Ministry of Education, which is less than the proportion of the neighboring role.
    "Higher education in Iraq faces a long series of challenges, perhaps the most important of which is the quality of higher education, the great openness to establishing private sector universities, and some attempts to violate the laws," committee member Gidaa Kambash said Thursday. The budget of higher education, which is the least compared to neighboring countries, despite the importance of supporting the educational process in Iraq.
    "Higher education in Iraq needs a real revolution in the context of change and reform, and the adoption of laws that give the universities more flexibility in managing their affairs, opening up to international universities and creating twinning with the universities of the country," she said.
    The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Qusay Al-Suhail called for supporting the decisions of appointing the first graduates on their faculties and guaranteeing the students' scholarships and making important changes in the educational process, thus contributing to modernizing the curricula and adopting new scientific departments in keeping with the development of modernity in the world.
    The expert and political analyst Wael Rikabi said in an interview with the «Journal News» that «Suhail is a professional man who has previously worked as a university professor in addition to being a first deputy speaker of the parliament, now is an independent man, enjoys calm and enlightenment and good management».
    The House of Representatives voted Tuesday on Qusay al-Suhail Kuzira for higher education and scientific research in the government of Adel Abdul Mahdi.
