US House of Representatives defies Trump over government closure

In defiance of President Donald Trump, the US House of Representatives, controlled by Democrats, passed legislation to end the government closure that does not include financing the construction of a dividing wall on the border with Mexico.
The council on Thursday approved two legislative texts that provide temporary funding to closed federal administrations and allow time for negotiations to reach an agreement between the White House and the Democratic Opposition on how best to tackle illegal immigration.
One of the texts guarantees funding for most of the federal departments currently closed until September 30, the end of the current fiscal year, while the other text finances the sensitive budget of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for border control to provide sufficient time to resolve this controversial issue.
Hours before the vote, the White House said the president's advisers would recommend him to veto laws if Congress approved them without providing any additional funds for Trump's proposal to build the border wall.
