[rtl]The US authorities have arrested a television presenter working for Iran, Mardi Hashmi, for the importance of her testimony in a "sensitive case."[/rtl]

[rtl] "We have now learned from the American side that she has been arrested as an important witness, and no charges have been brought against her," Press TV quoted Hossein Hashemi, the journalist's son, as saying.[/rtl]

[rtl]Hashimi pointed out that the jury in Washington summoned him with his brother and sister to testify.[/rtl]

[rtl]According to the television channel, Hashmi's arrest was linked to her participation in the filming of a documentary film about the international movement Black Lives Matt, which opposes the use of violence against blacks, and has long criticized some aspects of US policy.[/rtl]

[rtl]For its part, the Iranian Foreign Ministry denounced the arrest of Hashemi, saying that the Americans treated her inhumanly, and demanded her immediate release.[/rtl]

[rtl]Earlier, Iran's Press TV reported that the reasons for the arrest of a female journalist working in Iran since 2008 were still unknown. She said US authorities arrested Hashmi last Sunday at St. Louis airport after arriving from Iran to visit her sick brother.[/rtl]

[rtl]Tasnim said that the Americans forced the journalist to take off her hijab and deprive her of halal or vegetarian food.[/rtl]
