Zarif of Najaf: Our relationship with Iraq existed before America was founded and Pompeo has no right to interfere with it

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that his country's relations with Iraq existed before the establishment of the US state, adding that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had no right to intervene at all in relations between the two countries.
"Relations between the two countries exist before the establishment of the US state and will continue in the future as well," Zarif said in remarks published by the Fars news agency, .
"Our relations with Iraq are not artificial and we do not need to visit Iraq in secret," he said, referring to Trump's visit to Iraq. "We meet people and we come together and the people of the two countries have strong relations."
Zarif noted that "his visit to Iraq is the longest visit to a country," noting that "the visit was excellent and we had very good meetings with Iraqi officials."
"In all the cities we visited, we had very good meetings with local officials, private sector representatives, some civil society activists and tribal leaders. We have witnessed the very close relationship between my people and the governments of the two countries, historical relations. Against the urging and hope that this visit is a ground for cooperation between the private sectors of Iran and Iraq. " Ending / 25
