An official in the Chinese company Huawei, who is detained in Poland on charges of espionage, has denied any crime in the case against him.
"Referring to my detention on January 8 for alleged foreign-language acts against Poland, I strongly declare my innocence," the man, whose name was revealed under Polish law, Wei Jingw, said in a statement sent by his lawyer. Absolutely terrible harm. "
Poland announced on January 11 that it had arrested him with a former Polish security official on allegations of espionage, while Huawei responded the next day that it had dismissed the official.
The court ordered the man to be detained for up to three months for further investigation.
The case comes at a time when some Western countries have taken action or are seeking to restrict Huawei's access to their markets. The company denies any wrongdoing or poses a security threat to the West
