[rtl]According to a report published by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, one of the 20 ballistic missile bases, not previously announced in North Korea, is used as the headquarters of a strategic missile battalion.[/rtl]

[rtl]"The Sino-Rye missile base and the Nodong missiles deployed on this site are compatible with North Korea's presumed nuclear military strategy, as it provides at the operational level the ability to launch a nuclear or conventional first strike," the report said.[/rtl]

[rtl]The disclosure comes three days after US President Donald Trump announced his intention to hold another summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in late February to discuss the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.[/rtl]

[rtl]According to the report, Sinu-ri, 212 km north of the demilitarized zone, is an 18 square kilometer base and plays a key role in the development of ballistic missiles capable of reaching South Korea, Japan and the American island of Guam in the western Pacific.[/rtl]

    [rtl]The base includes a military unit equipped with medium-range Nodong-1 ballistic missiles.[/rtl]

[rtl]According to Reuters, the report added that satellite images of the base on December 27, 2018 showed access to an underground bunker, fortifications and a command center.[/rtl]
