    French Foreign Minister Jean-Louis Le Duran said his country is ready to impose new sanctions on Iran unless progress is made in talks on Iran's ballistic missile program.
    Le Drean, who this week reiterated his support for a European-backed system to facilitate non-dollar trade with Iran and overcome US sanctions, said France wanted Tehran to curb its missile activity.
    "We are prepared, if the talks do not produce results, to impose strict sanctions and they know that," he told reporters.
    "Any new sanctions from European countries will lead to a reassessment by Iran of its dealings with these countries," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi said in response.
    "Iran's missile capability is not negotiable and has been brought to the attention of the French side during the ongoing political dialogue between Iran and France," he added.
    Diplomats earlier told Reuters the EU was considering imposing new economic sanctions on Tehran that could include freezing assets and a travel ban on the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Iranians involved in the development of the ballistic missile program. Finished
