    BAGHDAD -
The head of the Federation of Iraqi Industries Ali Sabeeh said on Monday that the exemption of Jordanian goods from customs duties means exempting the world from customs and not only Jordan.
"The issue of exempting Jordanian goods from customs duties is a new disaster by exempting 399 items," Sobeih said. "How will there be support for the national product and in return there is an exemption for the imported goods?"
He added that "the exemption of Jordanian goods from customs does not mean exempting Jordan only, but exempting the world because everyone will do a work in Jordan and bring a product from China and write a manufacture in Jordan and send it to Iraq.
"Is it logical for the state to sign an agreement with another country without taking the opinion of the private sector?" He said, adding that "
He pointed out that "the 50 thousand projects include an average of 25 workers in each project, and if we consider that each worker family of 5 people, the number of about 4 million 500 thousand people benefit from the private industrial sector, without indirect persons such as carriers, drivers, .
He pointed out that "I submitted a proposal that instead of exempting the Jordanian goods from customs, they come to establish factories inside Iraq, and thus ensure that if an Iraqi person participates in the project, there will be benefit for the parties, and also ensure the employment of workers and the elimination of unemployment."

    Special - Mawazin News
Economic expert Dhargham Mohammed Ali, on Monday, that the exemption of Iraq for Jordan's goods from customs duties must be carried out in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.
"Iraq's exemption from customs duties should be carried out in accordance with the principle of reciprocity, and it can not be for political reasons or compliments to visit delegations and officials or to satisfy economic interests," Ali told Mawazine News.
"Iraq is considered one of the first commercial markets in some countries such as Iran, Syria and Turkey, so it is not possible to exempt one country without another, although this exemption must be for reasons, in addition to reciprocity," he said.
Ali pointed out that "Iraqi goods and goods may be somewhat limited, so if the tax exemption is exempted from these taxes, it must grant Iraq concessions through the oil pipeline, which will be established in the port of Aqaba and therefore it will be equal."
He called on the economic expert, the Iraqi government to "disclose the real reasons for exempting the goods of the countries entering Iraq."
According to media reports, the intention of the Iraqi government to activate the exemption on Jordanian goods on 2/2/2019.
Representatives of Jordan's private sector confirmed that King Abdullah II's visit to Iraq opened the doors for future economic cooperation based on the supreme interests of the two countries, based on a legacy of brotherly historical relations and commonalities that culminated recently in the signing of 15 agreements on transport, trade and agriculture.
The Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razzaz announced earlier, the agreement with Iraq on the discount of 75% of the fees of aviation and maritime transport, noting that Baghdad and Oman agreed to be the port of Aqaba one of the platforms for the export of Iraqi oil.
