"The Sawsan Alliance, backed by the leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al - Sadr, on Monday, dissolved the Basra Provincial Council, attributing his request to" the failure of the Council to provide any services to citizens, and not take its natural role in the supervision and legislation.
MP Rami al-Sakini told Ashqaf News that "with the demands of the demonstrators from the people of Basra, dissolve the provincial council, this measure is constitutional, and does not affect the work of the local government in the province."
"The Basrah provincial council suffers from slackness, corruption and procrastination, and the best solution is to solve it after failing to provide any services to citizens and not taking its natural role in monitoring and legislation over the previous years," he said.
In Basra, southern Iraq, protests almost daily, the continued decline in the reality of service and living, and the spread of unemployment within the community, and the spread of financial and administrative corruption in the institutions of the state and its constituencies.
