US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed on Thursday that the fighters of the terrorist organization "Da'ash" (banned in Russia and some countries) are trying to crawl from Syria to African countries.
Speaking to Fox Business, Pompeo said in response to a question whether he was afraid the militants would move from Syria to other countries. "Yes, they try to do so, have long been trying (to escape) and stationed in Africa or in northern Libya."
"Our mission is to prevent them from seizing land, keeping pressure on them, and limiting their financial capacity," he said.
The Russian deputy secretary of the Security Council, Aleksandr Venediktov, said earlier that part of the militants had moved to Africa after the defeat in Syria and Iraq, where the pockets of gangs were formed from the banned terrorist organizations "Daash" and "Al Qaeda.
US President Donald Trump said today he expects to announce formally next week at the earliest that the US-led coalition has regained control of all the territory controlled by the terrorist "Da'ash" organization.
