US official revealed that the US Consulate General in Jerusalem that provide services to the Palestinians will be merged with the Embassy of the United States new to the Israel in March.

"The integration of the consulate at the embassy will take place on March 4 or 5, and the Consul General's position will end," the official, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters.

It is noteworthy that the Consulate General in Jerusalem is the largest US mission to the Palestinians. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced last October the decision to establish one diplomatic mission, without specifying a date.

Following the announcement of the integration Pompeu consulate with the embassy in Jerusalem, denounced the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Saeb Erekat 's decision to cancel the consulate as the latest evidence of the Trump administration 's cooperation with Israel to impose a "Greater Israel" instead of the two - state solution.
