Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Ukrainian authorities are preparing for a new provocation in the Kerch Strait between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, with the participation of NATO representatives in the process.
In a speech to the representatives of the European Business Association in Moscow on Thursday, Lavrov said that the authorities in Kiev "are currently preparing for a new breakthrough with violation of the rules of passage through this complex area." He explained that this is a new attempt to regulate the penetration of Ukrainian warships to the Kerch Strait without any requests to the Russian side in this regard, or to take necessary security measures, or the presence of Russian guides aboard these vessels.
He added that he had information that Kiev had offered NATO countries to send NATO representatives to the ships to be "a breakthrough with NATO," adding: "If there is no hit on my hands so incited, it is difficult to imagine how the West shake hands" .
On November 23, three Ukrainian warships violated the transit system through Russia's territorial waters, en route from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea across the Kerch Strait. Ukrainian crews ignored the request of the Russian border guards to stop taking legal action. The three vessels were detained by the Russian authorities and the 24 members of their crew were arrested by judicial decision for illegally crossing the Russian border. End 25 n
