A Turkish company specialized in the dairy industry decided to invest in the Iraqi market through the management of the largest dairy factory in Iraq after stumbling after 2003.
An Iraqi official said on Monday that the Turkish company had obtained an investment contract for the Abu Ghraib dairy plant. According to Anatolian Turkish
, "the Turkish company Makkunain, specialized in the dairy industry, will operate the Abu Ghraib dairy plant for 15 years."

"All employees working in the plant will keep their jobs without any change, while the company that invests in the plant will have the task of producing, importing raw materials and marketing the products," he said.
"The Turkish company will also take over the task of changing mechanisms for the dairy industry," he said.
The general manager of the General Company for Food Products did not disclose the financial costs of the investment contract.
The Abu Ghraib dairy plant, one of the largest dairy factories in Iraq, was founded in 1958, during the reign of King Faisal II of Iraq.
The plant was exposed after 2003, after the US invasion of Iraq, and many of its contents were stolen. The Ministry of Commerce then started to rehabilitate it. However, the plant suffers from administrative and logistical problems. It prevented it from being a competitor to imported dairy products.
