Mawazine News -
Jordanian citizens and a number of political parties opposed to the peace treaty between Jordan and Israel organized a rally in downtown Amman to protest a $ 10 billion gas deal with Israel.
The protesters called on the government and the parliament on Friday to cancel the peace treaty signed with Israel also, and carried banners and launched slogans against them.
The Jordanian parliament is scheduled to hold a special session next Tuesday to discuss the gas deal with Israel.
Delek Drilling, an Israeli energy company and its US partner Noble Energy, signed their first export agreement in 2016 worth $ 10 billion over 15 years to supply 45 billion cubic meters of gas to Jordan.
Israel signed a peace treaty with Jordan in 1994, but rapprochement with Israel is still unpopular in the Arab street to a large extent.
