NATO announced its intention to secure the transit of Ukrainian military vessels to the Kerch Strait linking the Black Sea to the Sea of Azov.
Ambassador Kelly Bailey Hutchison, the US representative to NATO, revealed that NATO would decide this during a meeting of representatives of member states in Washington on 3-4 April.
NATO will decide to intensify intelligence activity in the Black Sea and send more battleships to the Black Sea "to secure passage of Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait," it said.
NATO will take these measures to counter the "threats of Russia," she said.
It should be noted that the Kerch Strait became part of Russian territory after the Crimea regained Russian identity in 2014.
