    The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that if an agreement was reached with North Korea to give up its nuclear program, it would be ready in a matter of weeks to send inspectors to verify and monitor nuclear disarmament if requested. 
     
    IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano told the UN Security Council that the IAEA is the only international organization qualified to carry out the operation in a neutral, independent and objective manner. The 15-member council told a meeting on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty that the IAEA can, after approval by the Governing Council, By sending inspectors back to North Korea.
