Russian defense announces repulsing new offensive on Hamimim base

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Gunmen in Syria on Thursday carried out a fresh attempt to target their base in Hameim, but the attack was repulsed without any injuries, the defense ministry said.
"On May 2, 2019, the Hameimim airbase was targeted by members of the illegal armed formations stationed in the town of Qalaat al-Mideq (Hama governorate)," said Major General Victor Kubcichin, director of the Hameemim Center for Reconciliation in Syria, "He said.
Kubcichen stressed that all the shootings on the base were repulsed and the attack did not result in casualties among the Russian military and damage at the airport.
Cobcichen said on Wednesday that the militants had tried since early April to target the Hameimim base and Syrian forces positions in Lattakia 12 times by marching aircraft and rocket launchers, referring to all attacks. End 25 n
