(Baghdad: al-Furat News) A member of the Committee on oil, energy and natural resources in the House of Representatives Sadiq al-Sulaiti to submit a request to host the ministers of electricity and oil.
Al-Sulaiti said in a statement that "the committee discussed the issue of associated gas and the potential impact of electricity production in the event of the application of US sanctions on Iran."
He added that "members of the Committee submitted a request to host oil ministers Thamer Ghadhban and electricity Luay Khatib and advanced staff in the ministries to discuss this subject and possible alternatives that can be provided in case of any emergency."
Last Thursday, the six-month deadline that the United States granted to a number of countries buying Iranian oil to exempt it from US sanctions against Tehran expired.
US President Donald Trump re-imposed the sanctions last year after he announced Washington's withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran, an agreement he says he wants to renegotiate.
