    "The government has succeeded in the economic reform plan ... but the Egyptians have grown poorer," the World Bank said on Wednesday, announcing the extension of the partnership framework with Egypt for 2015-2019 for another two years.
    The World Bank said in a press statement that "about 60% of the population of Egypt either poor or more needy," but considered that the economic reforms implemented by Egypt show signs of early success.
    The talk about the success of the government and the increase in poverty, the debate on the policies of "economic reform" in Egypt and its impact on the Egyptians, and the statement raised the ridicule activists social networking sites as that what he said about the proportion of poverty is in fact a realistic outcome of the policies of President Abdel Fattah Sisi.
    Increased poverty The 
    World Bank's statement emphasized that the government's reform efforts have helped to stabilize the economy and revive growth, reduce the budget deficit, reduce inflation and increase foreign reserves.
    But he also stressed that economic reforms have affected the middle class, which faces rising costs of living as a result of reforms.
    "Poverty is increasing, and the national poverty rate is approaching 30% in 2015, up from 24.3% in 2010." He pointed out that there are amazing geographic disparities in poverty rates, ranging from 7% in Port Said Governorate to eastern Egypt and 66% Some Upper Egypt governorates.
    The poverty line refers to the minimum income that an individual can not meet his basic needs if he does not receive it. The World Bank poverty line is $ 1.9 per person per day (the dollar is less than 18 pounds).
    The latest official figure for an official poverty rate in Egypt issued by the Public Mobilization and Statistics Agency (Hukoomi) is 27.8% in 2015, a figure announced by Egypt every two years, but the agency has not yet announced the indicators of poverty in 2017.
    The success of the process 
    The Egyptian government began to accelerate what it calls "economic reform" by the end of 2016 by the decision to float the pound, and then the decisions to gradually cut subsidies on fuel and ration goods, followed by the expansion of privatization of the government sector.
    Since then, economists, as well as the general public, have argued about the fruits of this "economic reform" and who pays for it? Will it be a real reform of the Egyptian economy, which suffers from multiple crises, or exacerbate the crisis and increase the suffering of Egyptians?
    As in cynicism even in crises, the Egyptians share a joke about the suffering of the people from government decisions that do not take into consideration that the patient died but the hospital promises his family, however, that the operation has succeeded!
    Despite this simplicity, it reveals the deep debate about the decisions of "economic reform", which supporters say is the only solution before a complete collapse. Like a surgical operation, its consequences must be tolerated at the beginning and then enjoy its fruits in the end.
    Critics of these decisions, however, see it as a financial transaction only for government securities and not a real and integrated economic treatment that improves living standards, low poverty and unemployment, and improves the quality of education and health.
    However, the World Bank sees in its statement that expanding the framework of partnership with Egypt will allow it to continue to support ongoing reform efforts by the government and ultimately aim to improve the lives of Egyptians. 
    The regional director of Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti at the World Bank, Marina Weiss, said the operations during the extension would include reforming the health and education sectors, strengthening social safety nets and social inclusion, creating jobs and growing the private sector, and transforming Egypt into a digital economy.
    As usual, activists from social networking sites scoffed at the World Bank's announcement that the poverty rate in Egypt had risen to 60%. 
    Some considered that this declaration was the real expression of what Egypt suffers from the policies of the Sisi government, while others considered that the middle class is the biggest victim of these policies by becoming a poor class.
    Others said that the advice and conditions of international institutions were before the previous governments, but Sisi was the boldest to agree to what they called "the devastation of the country."
    The world's largest, middle class, poor class and class below the poverty line in Egypt, people are dying to care for all our dreams, ambitions and future. We are one and a half divided. We have one class divided into 3. State, Met Goh.
    The patience of the Egyptians 
    does not leave President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi an opportunity, but he thanks the Egyptians for what he describes as their commitment to the difficult economic decisions, stressing that without the patience of the Egyptians, the economic reform plan would not succeed. 
    Contrary to Sissi's statements about Egyptians' patience, social networking leaders complain about the rising cost of living, accusing the authorities of preventing them from demonstrating because of the tightening of the security grip, and also accusing the state media of preventing the Egyptians from appearing.
    Opposition media abroad occasionally show videos of Egyptians complaining about rising prices and their inability to endure.
