(AFP) - The White House is aware of "North Korea's actions," US presidential spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Saturday, following events closely.
"We are aware of North Korea's actions tonight," Sanders said, "We will continue to monitor the situation as necessary."
South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday that Pyongyang fired a barrage of short-range missiles at the Sea of Japan on Saturday.
North Korea "fired a number of unidentified rockets from the town of Wansan on the east coast in the northeastern direction around 9 am," the military said in a statement.
The agency added that "the range of launch ranges from 70 kilometers to 100 kilometers," noting that "the South Korean authorities and the United States are analyzing the details of the rocket fire."
It was the first time North Korea had fired missiles since it launched an intercontinental ballistic missile in November 2017 before announcing the completion of its nuclear power building and waving it out of South Korea and the United States.
Its leader, Kim Jong-un, vowed that nuclear weapons or intercontinental ballistic missiles would no longer be tested, but North Korea later tested other weapons. is over
