The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "Mohammed Ali al-Hakim received at the headquarters of the State Department David Satterfield, Undersecretary of the US Secretary of State and Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy, Joe Howard, and discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington and ways to raise them to meet the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
"The importance of continuing bilateral cooperation to achieve the common interests of the two countries," the
minister stressed, " praised the progress made in relations between the two countries in order to meet the aspirations of the Iraqi people."
Al-Hakim expressed "Iraq's aspiration to continue to support all efforts at various levels to resolve the crises experienced by the region, and eradicate the phenomenon of terrorism from its roots."
"The visit comes within the context of maintaining high-level contacts between the two countries, strengthening strategic relations, consultation on various issues, regional challenges and providing sustainable solutions to achieve stability in the Middle East," the statement said.
