Wasit Council announces a plan to raise the oil production of the province to 500 thousand barrels per day

The Wasit Governorate Council voted on Tuesday to establish the Wasit oil company, indicating that it is seeking to raise the province's production from 250 to 500 thousand barrels per day.
Council member Ghaleb al-Ridini told Al-Maalouma that "the Central Oil Company is managed from Baghdad and is based outside the province, although 95% of its oil is from Wasit province."
He added that "the Council is a great injustice to the province and the absence of its role," adding that "the Council Wasit voted today during the meeting on the establishment of the oil company Wasit."
He explained that "the decision paves the way for drilling more oil wells within the eighth exploration and expansion of oil and gas production," pointing out that "the province seeks to raise production in the future from 250 to 500 thousand barrels per day."
