[size=18]In an interview with the Guardian, the Guardian reported that senior Iranian intelligence sources said that the commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qasim Soleimani, met three weeks ago with members of Iraqi factions and called on them to "prepare for a proxy war."

According to the newspaper, Soleimani's suspicious move raised America's and allies' fears that their interests in the region were being threatened, prompting the US State Department to ask its "non-essential" staff to leave Iraq. Britain also raised the alert level for its troops and diplomats, .

For the past 15 years, he has represented Iran's striking hand in both Iraq and Syria, which has strengthened Tehran's interference in these two Arab countries.

The newspaper pointed out that fears are mounting that Iraq will become a battleground from which Iran will leave its territory against the United States.

A senior Iranian military commander has met with leaders of pro-Iranian Iraqi militias in Baghdad and asked them to prepare for the war, according to a report in the Guardian newspaper.
The newspaper quoted senior intelligence sources as saying that the commander of the Quds Force, Major General Qassem Soleimani, met three weeks ago with elements of the militias loyal to Iran in Iraq, in conjunction with the escalation of tension between Washington and Tehran.
Sulaymani's move to mobilize Iran's regional allies has raised US and allied concerns that their interests in the region have been threatened, prompting the US State Department to ask its "non-essential" staff to leave Iraq and raise the alert level for its forces and diplomats.
Despite the ongoing meetings between Soleimani and the pro-Iranian militias over the past five years, he said this time he was different, according to one source, who said: "Although it was not an explicit call for war, in contrast it was not far from that context."
According to intelligence sources, the meeting was attended by all the leaders of the militias, which fall under the banner of "popular mobilization," which prompted a senior official was informed of the meeting to meet with Western officials to discuss the matter.
While the administration of US President Donald Trump takes the issue of Iranian threats seriously, British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt on Thursday expressed concern about what he called the rising level of danger from Iran, citing London's agreement with Washington to assess the threat.
On Thursday, Trump said he hoped the war with Iran would not break out in response to a reporter's question during a meeting with the Swiss president at the White House on whether Washington was on its way to war with Tehran.
The New York Times on Wednesday revealed the nature of the intelligence that recently prompted the White House to send military force to the Middle East in anticipation of an imminent Iranian attack.
According to the newspaper, three US officials said the intelligence was in pictures showing Iranians loading missiles on small boats in the Gulf, apparently indicative of an impending Iranian attack.
Washington withdrew a year ago from Tehran's nuclear deal with major powers and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran, worsening relations.
But the crisis has accelerated in the past weeks as the United States sends an aircraft carrier, interceptor bombers and B-52 bombers to the Gulf to counter potential threats from Iran.
